Field House residents prepare to cheer on Matt’s charity challenge
Residents at our Field House respite and residential care home in Shepton Mallet, are getting ready to cheer on Deputy Manager, Matt Middleton-Pfeiffer, as he takes on the Bath Half Marathon in support of a local cancer counselling charity.
Matt is tackling the gruelling 13.1 mile route around the streets of Bath on Sunday 16th March, to raise funds for Frome-based charity WHY (We Hear You), who supported a close friend who was bereaved by cancer.
He can be sure of loud shouts of encouragement on the day from several of his Field House colleagues, who, as members of their local carnival club, have volunteered to help marshal the event.
Pushing the limits, to make a difference
The Bath Half is the latest of Matt’s challenges for WHY, which have also seen him completing the 24 Peaks Challenge in 2023, and running at least a mile every day throughout 2024, clocking up over 700 miles in the process.
Robbie Newton, Community Fundraiser for WHY, explains how Matt’s efforts can make a difference:
“We are thrilled that Matt Middleton-Pfeiffer is running the Bath Half Marathon on behalf of We Hear You (WHY).
“For 30 years, We Hear You has provided high-quality therapeutic support for children, families, and individuals in Bath and North-East Somerset, Somerset, and Wiltshire who are affected directly or indirectly by cancer and other life-threatening conditions.
“Matt’s ongoing fundraising efforts will help to ensure that our services are available to those most in need.”

No doubt his heartfelt connection to WHY will spur him on to complete the Bath Half, but as colleagues and friends we are also there to shout our support and provide that little extra bit of encouragement!
