What is the nursing care process?
The nursing care process is the means of assessing and arranging the nursing care you need, to safely and effectively manage any long-term or complex medical conditions you may live with.
The first stage of the nursing care process is a care assessment. This is carried out by the manager of your chosen nursing care home, and is designed to help them to understand your individual nursing care requirements, and how they can support you to live well and feel at home.
Although it is called a care assessment, this is not a test and is nothing to be afraid of. A care assessment is an essential part of nursing care process, which provides you and your loved ones with the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about nursing care, whilst enabling the nursing care home to get to know you as a person, and understand how they can best support your physical and emotional wellbeing.
Once the nursing care home has confirmed that they are able to support your specific care needs, a good next step can be to visit the nursing care home for a guided tour. You will be able to meet the professional nurses who will care for you, get to know your fellow residents, see what your room could be like and experience the nursing care home’s facilities – a great opportunity to discover your next place to call home.
