Sydenham House celebrates ‘Good’ CQC rating
Residents and staff at Sydenham House respite and residential care home in Bridgwater, are celebrating being awarded a coveted ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) commended the care home, which is part of the not-for-profit Somerset Care Group, on its ‘positive culture’, ‘kind and respectful interactions’ between colleagues and residents, a ‘visible and supportive’ management team, and a ‘safe, clean and well-equipped environment that met [residents’] needs’.
Feedback to be proud of
Residents told the CQC inspection team that they are ‘well looked after’ and ‘treated with respect’, and that the care they receive is ‘brilliant’ and the ‘best you could ever get’. These comments echo independently-verified customer reviews for the home on carehome.co.uk, which rates Sydenham House at 9.5/10 for customer experience.
The CQC report also included feedback from the Sydenham House staff team, who told the CQC that they ‘felt supported, were happy in their roles and received appropriate induction, training and supervision’.

Sally Wheaton, Registered Manager of Sydenham House, explains what the CQC rating means to colleagues and residents at the home:

That’s why we’re opening our doors and welcoming the community in for a celebratory garden party on Sunday 23rd June. We’re inviting people to join guided tours of the home and gardens, meet the brilliant team and our lovely residents, sing and dance to live music, tuck into a tasty buffet, and raise a glass to Sydenham House. We look forward to celebrating with you!”
