Making Phylis' milking wish come true

Phylis, much-loved resident at our Grovelands specialist residential and dementia care home in Yeovil, recently got to fulfil her wish to milk a cow!

The team are always looking for ways to help their residents achieve their dreams and ambitions, so when Supervisor, Jenny, heard about Phylis’ agricultural wish, she set about making it come true.

Down on the farm

With the help of Charlie and Lydia from Drummers Farm in Leigh, Dorset, Phylis was able to assist with the milking of not just one, but 260 cows. She learnt about the milking process and how this has changed over the years, got hands on with some of the equipment, and also met the farm’s resident calves, donkey and ginger cat.

Making dreams come true

Grovelands manager, Karen Cheshire, says:

“We love supporting our residents to live the life they choose, and go on adventures that inspire and delight them.

“The sheer joy on Phylis’ face is plain for all to see, and the whole Grovelands team are so proud to have played a part in putting it there.

“Thanks to the help and generosity of everyone at Drummers Farm, we were able to make Phylis’ dream come true. We really value the connections we have with our local community, which add so much colour and interest to our residents’ lives, and make opportunities like this possible. Thank you.”
