A welcome return for Burnworthy House summer fayre
The sun shone and the community turned out in force to support the return of the summer fayre at Burnworthy House on Saturday 16th July, after an absence of two years. The event, which is hosted by Somerset Care’s Burnworthy House residential care home, has become a popular date in the calendar for the home’s residents and the wider South Petherton community.
With a wide variety of stalls and activities, food and entertainment, and a star attraction recognised by many as TV’s ‘Brum’ the car, the event proved as popular as ever.
The annual summer fayre is part of Burnworthy House’ programme of events and activities to support their residents to live the life they choose, and retain much-treasured links with the local community. Burnworthy House manager, Alison Tiltman, explains:
“Feeling a part of the local community plays such an important role in the wellbeing of our residents, and this has understandably proved a challenge in recent years. It is fantastic to be able to host our much-missed summer fayre again, and see those in our care being able to fully take part in the event.
“I would like to personally say a huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible – our stallholders and event volunteers, my colleagues here at Burnworthy House, and our brilliant local community for turning out to show their support and make it a day for our residents to remember.”
Burnworthy House residents made the most of the opportunity to show their loved ones around the grounds, and share their love of the place they call ‘home’. Susan, the daughter of Burnworthy resident, Pauline (pictured above), said:
“It’s wonderful to be able to take Mum out in these lovely grounds, and enjoy all the fun of the fayre together. We are so happy Mum is in such a caring and friendly home.”
