Residents and staff at our Burnworthy House care home in South Petherton have this week received their 2nd Covid-19 vaccinations – an event which has brought welcome reassurance to all concerned.
Among those receiving their second vaccine was 104-year-old Gwyneth, who celebrated her birthday between her first and second jabs, and is believed to be the oldest person to be vaccinated in the local area.
Burnworthy House is the latest of Somerset Care’s 27 residential homes where all staff and residents have now been offered both doses of the vaccine. The home praised the Somerset South West Primary Care Network and Festival Medical vaccination teams for making the process quick, efficient, and stress-free.
Jackie Howells, Manager of Burnworthy House, commented:
“Keeping our residents safe is always our top priority, and it’s fantastic that all of our residents and staff have now had the opportunity to take up their 2nd jab against Covid-19. This is a really positive step that helps us to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and a way out of this pandemic.
“We were really impressed by how quick and efficient the vaccination process was – it was all over before we knew it! The residents were quickly able to get back to their activities, safe in the knowledge that they are now more protected than they have ever been against coronavirus.”
