Emily's inspiring creation is a Work of Heart
A teenager's stunning depiction of a family silhouetted against a sunset has captured the hearts of our judges to win our Work of Heart competition.
13-year-old Emily Norris was inspired by her grandmother, Mary, who lives at Somerset Care's Frith House residential home in Burnham-on-Sea, to enter the competition, which invited artwork entries for display in visitor areas at our care homes.
Emily says:
"My Grandma, Mary, is in Frith House and I wanted to draw this for her. It is a silhouette of a family with a sunset background."
The vibrant colours of Emily's composition, and its underlying themes of care, love and connection beautifully reflect the ethos of Somerset Care, and offer a real sense of hope for a brighter future. Despite some incredibly talented competition from other entrants, this made Emily's artwork stand out from the crowd.
Emily's artwork now has pride of place on the wall at Frith House, and Emily was also presented with a canvas print of her work to hang on her wall at home.
We would like to say a huge 'Congratulations' to Emily, and a massive 'Thank you' to everyone who entered our Work of Heart competition.
