Somerset Care Welcomes Australian Visitor

Somerset Care played host to a visitor from Australia last week who came to learn about the company’s award winning PETALS dementia care, quality assurance system and the Gold Standard Framework Award.

Beth Davidson-Park, Director of Strategy and Business Development, works for Southern Cross Care (South Australia and Northern Territories) alongside Somerset Care’s former CEO Andrew Larpent.

During Beth’s time with Somerset Care she visited two of its care homes, Croft House in Williton and Oak Trees in Bridgwater. At Croft House she was shown the Archie Project, a recently launched programme which aims to make Williton a dementia friendly community. Whilst on her visit Beth was also involved with judging the company’s dementia artwork competition in preparation for a 2013 calendar which will be released later in the year.

Speaking on Beth’s visit, Jane Lynch, Assistant Director of Residential Services, said, “Somerset Care is extremely proud of the services we provide to people living with dementia and those people nearing the end of their lives. It was a wonderful experience to share our PETALS dementia care and Gold Standard Framework with Beth, and we hope this helps her with developing the care Southern Cross Care deliver in Australia.”

Preston Park House Receives Highest Gold Standards Framework Award

Somerset Care is celebrating this week as Preston Park House in Yeovil received the highest award of ‘Beacon’ status in the Gold Standards Framework Award.

The Gold Standards Framework is an award designed to ensure quality care and support is given to people nearing the end of life. The staff team at Preston Park House are extremely pleased with their success. Janice Passmore, Manager of the home, said, “It’s a credit to the commitment and dedication of the staff team to achieve this award. A special mention must go to Deputy Manager Emma Read who has dedicated a lot of time and organisation into this achievement”.

Alyson Martin Chief Executive, said, “The attainment of this prestigious award demonstrates the high quality of care and support provided by the staff team, we are delighted at their success”.

Six other Somerset Care homes have also received the Gold Standards Framework Award, Milton House in Bridgwater, Calway House in Taunton, Cary Brook in Castle Cary, Critchill Court in Frome, Popham Court in Wellington and Croft House in Williton.

Popham Court receives highest Gold Standards Framework Award

Popham CourtSomerset Care is celebrating this week as Popham Court in Wellington received the highest award of “Beacon” status in the Gold Standards Framework Award. The Gold Standards Framework is an award designed to ensure quality care and support is given to people nearing the end of life.

The staff team at Popham Court are extremely pleased with their success. Hazel Jones, Manager said, “It’s a credit to the commitment and dedication of the staff team to achieve this award”.

Popham Court offers residential care in two separate buildings, The Court is a 37 bed home which provides residential and day care in a charming grade II listed building. Popham House, situated on the grounds of The Court offers nursing care to 37 residents.
