Calway House Chef Retires After 42 Years

A care home chef from Taunton retired this week after 42 years service.

Geoffrey Tremethick had worked at Calway House in Calway Road since May 1970, during which time he has seen the home completely rebuilt into an 83-bed property providing residential, dementia and nursing care.

His retirement party at the home this week was attended by past and present staff, residents, and other invited guests. Geoffrey was presented with many gifts, including an engraved glass plaque. Speaking at the event, Non-Executive Director Barrie Dale reflected on the many changes Geoffrey had seen in that time and noting that he would have served approximately 1.5 million meals during his 42 years.

Alan Roca is appointed Deputy Manager at Calway House

Alan RocaSomerset Care is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Roca (R.G.N) as Deputy Manager of Calway House in Taunton. Alan has worked for the company for five years as a Senior Nurse, and recently joined the company’s rising stars programme. Speaking on his recent appointment Alan said, “I’m so pleased to be starting the new year with a new role at Calway House. I’d like to thank everyone that has supported me throughout the last five years”. Alan will start his new post as Deputy Manager on 2nd January 2012.

New Manager appointed at Calway House

Katrina TantThe Somerset Care Group has appointed a new Nurse Manager at Calway House in Taunton.

Katrina Tant has been appointed to the position from her current role as a Deputy Nurse Manager at the home. Katrina has worked for the organisation for five years and replaces Nurse Manager Verity Underhill, who has been promoted to the role of Operations Manager for the Somerset Care Group.

Alyson Martin, Chief Executive designate, said, “Katrina’s promotion is well deserved. I am sure that Calway House, a highly popular home, will continue to flourish under her leadership.”
