Somerset Care is pleased to announce that staff from Grovelands care home in Yeovil have enjoyed double success at this year’s National Care Awards. Care Assistant Joanne Reynolds was presented with the ‘Care Newcomer 2011′ awards and the staff team were presented with the ‘Care Team 2011′ award.
The awards which took place at a gala dinner held at the Hilton London Metropole on Friday 25th November, are a celebration of excellence across the care sector.
Grovelands is a 66 bed residential home with a specialist dementia unit, situated in Yeovil. The home has over 80 staff and each member of the team works exceptionally hard to ensure that the people they care for receive the highest standard of care and support.
Joanne, winner of the ‘Care Newcomer 2011′ award joined Grovelands as an apprentice in September 2010, and was promoted in January 2011 to Care Assistant. She was also successful earlier this year at the Somerset Care Group’s in-house awards ceremony.
Marion Osborn, Operations Manager for Grovelands said, “I’m so proud to be Operations Manager for Grovelands. All of the staff work so hard to ensure that each resident is treated with respect and dignity. The evening was a great success for Somerset Care, and one of the judges was so impressed that they have booked a day out to visit Grovelands next week!”
Somerset Care is pleased to announce that it has taken over the former Southern Cross home Leycroft Care Centre in Taunton. After a period of uncertainty for the staff, residents and families at the home, its future is now secure with new management and a new name – Lavender Court.
The formal transfer took place yesterday and the existing staff will be transferring to Somerset Care’s employment. Somerset Care’s name is well known in Taunton as it has two care homes (Calway House and Moorhaven), a community care base, a physical disabilities unit (Halcon House), and its central office operation in town. These existing facilities have a strong reputation for delivering high quality services, and the company aims to build the reputation of Lavender Court to the same level.
Alyson Martin, Somerset Care’s Director of Care Services and newly-appointed Chief Executive, said, “We are delighted to welcome the staff, residents and families of Lavender Court to the Somerset Care Group. The home has endured a long period of uncertainty, but will now have a new beginning under a new name. The seamless transfer for residents and families is only possible with the help of the existing staff at home and we thank them for their continued support and dedication.”
