Grovelands Celebrates Award Success

Grovelands residential home is thrilled to announce the success of their Activities Coordinator, Yvonne Rodber at this year’s Care Focus Awards. Yvonne was presented with the award of ‘Outstanding Learner’ at the gala dinner held at Wellsprings Leisure Centre.

Yvonne has been working as Activities Coordinator at Grovelands for 2 1/2 years and in that time has gained various qualifications including an NVQ 2 in Health & Social Care and a Creative Activity Therapy Award. Talking about her work Yvonne said, “I enjoy my role bringing person-centred care to residents by putting the person first and not the dementia. I like to give the residents choices when doing activities. I also respect their dignity, privacy and independence.” Grovelands Manager Jackie Howells said, “We are really proud of Yvonne. She has worked really hard to gain her qualification and is a real asset to our home.”

Royal Opening for Croft House

HRH The Duke of Kent KG at Croft HouseSomerset Care was delighted to welcome His Royal Higness the Duke of Kent KG to Croft House in Williton. Croft House is a recently built, 67-bedded residential home owned by the Somerset Care Group, and was completed in May 2011.

The Duke visited to open the home, and after taking a tour and meeting selected residents, staff and dignitiaries he unveiled a commemorative plaque. Croft House is one of a number of care homes which the Group are developing across Somerset. Andrew Larpent, Chief Executive of the Somerset Care Group said, “We are delighted and honoured that His Royal Higness visited Croft House. We are extremely pleased with the new building which will provide high quaility residential and specialist care facilities for present and future generations of older people in the heart of Somerset. We welcomed the opportunity to show it to His Royal Higness and other guests.”
